Let’s admit it, we all make mistakes. Some are big ones, some are small ones.
The Instagram mistakes that you can make in 2020 but most specifically, 5 reasons why your Instagram is not growing.
The first mistake we will go over is buying followers. It is a bad idea but a lot of people actually do it.
I will admit, I did it a year or two ago about some followers for DrNiki.co, I even have a video about it but as I said I made some mistakes too, that’s why I don’t want you to make them. Why is buying followers so bad ? By doing this, you don’t include giveaways and shoutouts. Because when you get shoutouts from a team page that is relevant to your account or you do giveaways and get followers from your niche it is a whone another story because these people are actually who clicked the follow button. On the other hand, fake followers are people that are sold. They didn’t know they had their credential stolen from a third party app or they just bought the accounts. Why they are not good. Well they know it, you are a stranger to them, they are following you but you are stranger to them and when you post something they won’t engage. And because for over a year Instagram doesn’t show content in a chronological order if the content is by any means shown to these people they don’t really engage. What happens to your content, it dies off and you will see lower and lower reach to your account. So do I recommend that ? No, I do not. Again, shoutouts and giveaways are the better way. More expensive, but better.
Although, if you did buy followers you can lock them down with an app.
The second Instagram mistake you are making is hashtag research. Not using the right hashtags can affect your account in a bad way.
The purpose of hashtags is to get a little bit more engagement on your post, a little bit more reach, maybe a huge amount, who knows, depending on the hashtags you chose and then to have a chance to rank on the explore page. Because a hashtag is a more reliable source of reach but an explore page can really get things going for you. Some people believe that explore page algorithm works in cycle so you have a cycle of three months that you get promoted on and then for another three months you won’t get promoted and that’s why they have network of accounts of the same niche so when one is promoted they double down on stories and the best posts they post there.
How do you choose the right hashtag? You need to have three things in mind. Average likes, the maximum amount of average likes, the lowest amount of average likes and the media count or the post count of each hashtag. So if the average account you are making per post is 50 you don’t want to be trying to rank on a hashtag with 2000 likes because you don’t really have chances to rank there. How do you do that? There is a tube that has a free trial and do your hashtag research and close the trial if you don’t like it. The website is called Flick.

As you can see first you have a lot of analytics. Let’s say you are in the meme niche. Type “meme” in the search box and you will see a bunch of hashtags. The likes and the average amount of comments. But if you filter it down, and set that the average amount of likes you would be interested in is from 50 to 100 and you want posts made from 5000 to 500000. And it should load hashtags that have a minimum of 50 to 100 likes and posts that use these hashtags from 5000 to 500 000.
The third reason you might not grow is because of content quality.
You are in the business reach but you are just posting photos of being cool and the caption is “I got a sunny day.” What is your value proposition ? What is the point of your Instagram account? To show how beautiful you are ?Are you a fashion account ? No, you are not your business account. That is one of the biggest Instagram mistakes that you can make. You go to have a value proposition. You can post pictures of you working, some Canvas with some info.
The Fourth Instagram mistake that you can make is actually using or not using filters.
This is a very wide subject, I am not a professional photographer or videographer so the way I do it is something that you can do too. You can use Lightroom but that is a paid app and if you don’t have the money for it, what can you do? You can use VSCO. Or you can use the filters from Instagram. But posting a pale photo will only low down your reach. Look is important.
Reason five if why your Instagram is going down is not having an optimized bio. It’s a big instagram mistake You need to have a searchable name and a bio that is well described so people know why they are following. You always want to have a call to action next to your link. Sometimes you see big Instagram accounts, they have nothing written there and you would be thinking that it is a good idea but it is not.
Say what you are up to, dont expect people to be aware of you because there are over a billion users, half of them want to grow their Instagram account. You are not just gonna randomly explode yours. If you want to convert those into real profile visits then you will slowly start to engage into real Instagram followers.
Meanwhile, stay safe, stay healthy and remember that a video a day keeps the doctor away.
